Formentera, the tranquil little sister island of Ibiza (Spain), is one of those places where you can getaway from it all. So let’s explore this little Mediterranean paradise with gorgeous sandy beaches, and tour one lucky person’s vacation home.
Why Formentera? You get to enjoy simple Mediterranean style island living, miles of beautiful sandy beaches, unspoiled nature, hiking, biking or cruising with an electric vehicle through the countryside, chilling in one of the beachside restaurants, and of course, the Mediterranean sea all around you, presenting itself in all nuances of blue and turquoise.
The house is situated on the highest point of Formentera, called La Mola. And the view is just stunning from up there. Otherwise the island is flat.
I love everything about this Mediterranean style island home. It connects beautifully with its surroundings. The windows with the blue painted frames are spectacular. Uncovered windows are typical for Mediterranean style homes in warmer climates. The colors, furnishings and decorations couldn’t be more suitable and beautiful, using wicker, wood, cute driftwood lamps, large Storage Basket, even a Basket Pendant Light, and Glass Hurricanes with Candles, and outside comfy Adirondack Chairs. The home is featured in the Spanish design magazine El Mueble. The article reveals that there is no cell phone coverage in this secluded spot. How is that for unplugging?
You can rent similar homes on Formentera via VRBO and Homeaway. I’ve used both services for my Florida Getaways and have had good experiences.

This stretch of incredible white sand beach, called Playa de Illetas, is located on the northern point of Formentera, and is the most visited by tourists. It is considered one of the top beaches in whole Spain. Via Formentera Travels on Flickr.
Formentera, a place where people go to experience laid back simple Mediterranean style island living. I’ve read that on warm sunny winter days, as well as in Spring and Fall, you can stroll for hours on almost completely deserted beaches.
