Built in 1890 as a boardinghouse for shipbuilders, this Victorian beach cottage has come a long way. Located in Madison, Connecticut, it’s now steeped in New England country charm.
This New England style Victorian charmer is situated just four houses away from the water in Madison, Connecticut. I have been to the area while living in Westport, CT (many years ago). It’s a gorgeous countryside setting. The town of Madison is very cute and the beach at Hammonasset State Park stretches out for more than two miles. I’m sure, if the owners are not playing in the sand (and perhaps Building Sand Castles), they’re spending all their time on the fabulous cottage porch, furnished with comfy red wicker chairs. To go with traditional New England seaside style, the color palette is predominantly blue, white, and sand, with accents of red, and beachy nautical touches throughout. I love that they added Sweet Cottage Shutters with sailboat cut-outs! You want your home to make you happy before you walk through the door, so I’m all for cute curb appeal. To shop for shutters like these, head over to Completely Coastal where you can find a few sources listed.
